National Resource Center on Psychiatric Advance Directives
Psychiatric advance directives (PADs) are relatively new legal instruments that may be used to document a competent person’s specific instructions or preferences regarding future mental health treatment, in preparation for the possibility that the person may lose capacity to give or withhold informed consent to treatment during acute episodes of psychiatric illness. This site offers an introduction to PADs, state-by-state information about advance directive laws, instructions and forms, discussion forums, educational webcasts, current research, links to other websites, and more!
Patient Services Incorporated
PSI is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable organization that has worked for over two decades to help people who live with certain chronic illnesses or conditions locate suitable health insurance coverage and access ways to satisfy expensive co-payments. PSI provides assistance with the cost of health insurance premiums associated with COBRAs, State High Risk Pools, Open enrollment, Guaranteed Issue policies, HIPAA conversion policies; and prescriptions co-payments associated with private insurance as well as with Medicare Parts B and D. The HealthWell Foundation® is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in 2003 that is committed to addressing the needs of individuals with insurance who cannot afford their copayments, coinsurance, and premiums for important medical treatments. Their vision is to ensure that no patient goes without health care because they cannot afford it. The website includes extensive information about the program including diseases/conditions covered, a quick test to see if you may be eligible, and application information. They also provide links to additional resources that may provide copay assistance for specific conditions.
FamilyWize Prescription Drug Discount Card
The goal of the FamilyWize® partnership is to reduce the cost of medicine for children, families and individuals by $100 million. They deliver these savings by distributing free prescription drug discount cards. These cards are provided free of charge to the organizations and agencies helping to distribute the cards and to the people receiving the cards. The website provides the ability to search by state and find local agencies that are distributing the cards.
