Provides free information on over 200 mental health topics including bipolar disorder, depression, bereavement, post-traumatic stress disorder and warning signs of mental illness. They also provide referrals to local mental health services and distribute a free national directory of local mental health associations and offers low-cost materials. World Health Organization World Health Organization The objective of the World Health Organization (WHO) is the attainment by all people of the highest possible level of health. In support of its main objective, the Organization has a wide range of functions. This site outlines WHO's functions making this site informative and educational. Treatment Advocacy Center Alicia Aebersold The Treatment Advocacy Center is a national, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization working to eliminate barriers to treatment of severe mental illness. TAC acts as a resource to consumers, family members, lawmakers, attorneys, and other legal and medical professionals. In addition to their excellent news coverage of mental health advocacy and legal issues, there are many unique and important resources for families with severely mentally ill members - such as a free searchable database of attorneys experienced in committment law. Alliance for Aging Research Alliance for Aging Research Citizen advocacy organization that strives to improve the health and independence of older Americans through public and private research. Promotes healthy aging among people of all ages. Provides statistics, and information/articles on the health and well being of older persons. Also conducts information campaigns. National Council for Behavioral Healthcare National Council for Behavioral Healthcare The National Council advocates for policies that ensure that people who are ill can access comprehensive healthcare services. They also offer science education and practice improvement resources so that services are efficient and effective. They coordinate the Mental Health First Aid program across the USA and operate the SAMHSA-HRSA Center for Integrated Health Solutions to provide nationwide technical assistance in integrating primary and behavioral health.
